Charles-Auguste de Bériot was a Belgian violinist and composer known for establishing a particular performance style (the Franco-Belgian school) that combined classical elegance with technical virtuosity. Bériot’s compositional and performance style made a synthesis of Niccolò Paganini’s virtuosic fireworks with the elegance and emotional sensitivity of the classic French tradition.
