Brent is 8 years old and has severe cerebral palsy. He is not able to move himself into or out of any position however he arches and wiggles a lot! This has caused some serious safety problems at night. Brent has a medical bed with padded sides to prevent him from harming himself as he kicks and moves uncontrollably. Recently, Brent has encountered a much more dangerous nighttime challenge. Brent has managed to twist and turn himself to a point that he gets himself into positions that make it hard for him to breath. I've tried lots of different ways of supporting him in a safe position but Brent always overpowers any wedges, pillows or blanket rolls that are meant to keep him in a safe position. Last night was the worst night. He somehow managed to get one of the positioning pillows onto his face and he could barely breath. Thankfully our dog Arlo alerted me and I went to check on him. Because his face was covered there were no sounds that could be heard through the baby monitor. This could have ended in disaster! Brent desperately needs the Jenx Dreama sleep positioning system as it's the only option available that has supports that are anchored to the mattress. This will insure that Brent cannot move the supports or get himself into a dangerous position. The supports are easily and quickly removed by caregivers but are not able to be moved by the user.
